Making Jam and Bread

So Rebecca and I made jam and bread today for family home evening, it was quite fun and delicious. It was funny because during the process of making jam Rebecca said, "Doesn't this make you feel like a pioneer?" I said, "yeah especially with our blender, and kitchen aid."
Got the jars ready. We had to go out and buy more, we just underestimated the quantity of fruit.
Peeling, depitting, and cutting up the peaches for the blender.
Got the sugar ready. Now I know why jam is so delicious!
Wow we couldn't believe how much sugar we had to put in!!!

Strawberry jam.

Putting the jam in the jar.

Yum Jam! It is delicious to the taste!

What better to go with home made jam than home made bread. It is cooking right now as we speak and we are so excited to have some for dinner.

Rebecca's Birthday

So Rebecca's birthday was this Wednesday and we had a little celebration at our home. Rebecca told me that she was going to go to her professors house to study for her final, but when I came home from work she surprised me and didn't go. So we thankfully for our good friends Mike and Paige Kennyon we were able to celebrate it over some cupcakes (which were delicious) and a present that I gave her. Then on the 23rd Rebecca and I along with her sister Amanda, and her brother Scott and his fiance Ashley went out to wingers for a nice dinner.
Thanks to all those who helped make Rebecca's birthday special!

Rebecca is thinking about what she wants to wish for.

In my family we have a tradition to blow out the candles with puffy cheeks. Long ago Rachael did this on her birthday (not on purpose) and from then on we have been making fun of her.

Rebecca was exited and mad that I got her a present on her birthday.

Instead of just opening it up she has to peak inside and "guess" what it could be.

She just found out it was an iPhone and was very excited!

Even though she was happy she was also mad that I got her this. The hand means she is going to beat me later.

Although she is mad she opens it up to play with her new toy.

ISU Internship

So Jon finished his internship last Wednesday and he is very excited to be done with it. I am not sure exactly what he did but he measured defects in copper using a radioactive source which emitted positrons. I know it is complected. But here are some pictures that he took.

Radioactive Source Na-22

I guess this peak means that they are receiving a 511 keV gamma ray

Measuring the defects in copper samples

This is what is in the wood box and in the lead house. Apparently this container had to be filled with liquid nitrogen.
