When Jon and I flew back to Utah from our trip out east, we stayed a few days with my family in Utah. While we were there we went snow shoeing. It was so much fun. We went up into the mountains and found a place to pull off the road, which was an adventure in itself since the car kept getting stuck. But we finally were able to get the shoes on and find a trail towards the river. It was Jon's first time to go snow shoeing and I think he enjoyed it. It was a really beautiful day.

Christmas and New Year's
Jon and I were able to go to Rhode Island and spend time with his family for Christmas and New Years. Several days after arriving in Rhode Island a huge snow storm came and it was just what I imagined New England to look like in the winter. It was beautiful.
So this was our first christmas together and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was fun to see the kind of traditions Jon's family has. It made me wonder what kind of traditions Jon and I will have in the future.

On New Year's Eve Jon's family has a tradition to run around the house carrying items that represent what they want for the new year. This is a tradition they follow through with every year despite there being inches of snow on the ground. Oh and did i mention you do this barefoot. Yes i know, crazy. This was something that i knew i needed to participate in at least once. Despite my valiant effort I only made it around half the house. Jon, however made it twice around.
